We have a wonderful dog, Cimmi. She lives with my husband and me, as does our grown daughter and her three children.
Cimmi learned to tell time by the grandfather's clock I have in the hallway. She lays on the landing of the stairwell and listens intently to the chimes. Cimmi knows that at two thirty the
middle school bus will be dropping off the children. Now that our grandchildren are in high school and no longer ride the bus, she still goes to the door to look for them getting off the bus.
Cimmi is fifteen years old and looks like a drawing on a greeting card. She has a sweet disposition and a very bad heart. We know that she will not be with us much longer as she is on
medication and is still coughing hard. She understands every thing we say and we have resorted to spelling most words in her presence. She understands thirty or more words and has learned to associate
family activities with things she can do. She knows that when my grandson wears his work shirt she gets to go for a ride in the car. She is such a large part of our lives and we do treat her as a beloved
family member. She is our baby!
